Kerry Washington is simply amazing, with accomplishments for movies and plays, which display her phenomenal acting abilities on so many levels. There is no surprise why her career continues to skyrocket to higher levels of recognition. This hard working beauty possesses the ability to make any character she plays come alive with one read of the script. Although her talent has always been around she didn't really get the recognition due until she hit the big screen. Now it seems we can't get enough of this Beautiful brown bombshell. With trademark movies that displayed her true talent and abilities such as in the 2004 Oscar winning, hit movie "Ray" a movie directed by Taylor Hack ford where she co-starred along with Jamie fox and Regina king. Kelly mastered the role she was given. In this film Kerry plays a good wholesome Christian girl (Della Bea Robinson) who finds herself mesmerized by the ever-charming Ray Charles whom She eventually marries and bears two of his many children. Slowly but surely she finds her world being turned upside down when she realizes he has a strong and struggling addiction to drugs as well as infidelity. Kerry's performance of a strong virtuous woman who; in the movie "Ray" gave her character, as well as this Hit movie, the justice it deserved.
In the 2001 hit movie called "Save The Last Dance" directed by Thomas Carter, a Romance/drama filled film, where Kerry plays the no nonsense single teen mother, who befriends Sara Johnson (Julia Stiles) a Midwestern white girl who is forced to Chicago to live with her father after her mothers tragic death. The friendship between these two characters grows until Chenille realizes her brother; Derrick Reynolds (Sean Patrick Thomas) begins a relationship with Sara that goes deeper than friendship. Kerry's character (Chenille) has to face the challenging topics of having an absentee mother, the hardships of being a single teen mother and issues surrounding interracial relationships. Outside of the entire savvy candor displayed in this movie and by her character, the topics and issues are very much real and alive today. Her ability to bring this to life in her character's role is just another reminder of how much talent this sister really has. Changing up - the Controversial Role In Spike lee's 2004 film "She hates Me" Kerry Washington played her most controversial role ever as a a gay businesswoman who pays her ex-fiance, John Henry "Jack" Armstrong (played by Anthony Mackie), to impregnate both her and her girlfriend. This is a film that will leave you speechless. Defintely a far cry from any other character she's played before. However, Ms. Washington nails her performance with the ease that only she can. With a steady career in full bloom I can't wait to see what she has in store for us. How does she do it you ask. Well in a interview she did with Essence magazine Kerry was quaoted saying "I was very aware that my character was the 'she' in the film's title. Fatima takes care of her own needs," says Washington, 27, "and she believes that's what's best for everyone." Now here's a girl who see things on a deeper level than most. I wouldn't be surprised if Spike Lee didn't hand pick this role soley for her. She just proves what most already know about her. She can master any role that's placed before her. Watch Out! Kerry's On The Move What's coming up for this accomplished soaring star, well in 2006 Kerry landed a part in a movie by Kevin MacDonald entitled "The Last King Of Scotland" which is based on a novel on the events of the brutal Ugandan dictator Idi Amin's regime as seen by his personal physician during the 1970s. She's also working on another film in (post production) it's a comedy film called "Little Man" directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans. This film is about a wannabe dad (Shawn Wayans) who mistakes a vertically challenged criminal on the lam (Marlon Wayans) as his newly adopted son. What's Kerry's Role in the film? You'll have to wait and see. But wait! If you think that's it for this working Diva, think again. This brown-eyed beauty is working her tail off. She's also in postproduction in an upcoming movie called "The Dead Girl" directed by Karen Moncrieff. This film is a drama/mystery/thriller in which the clues to a young woman's death come together as the lives of seemingly unrelated people begin to intersect. Sound interesting? What else did you expect? Anything thing with Kerry Washington in it showing off her many talents is bound to be interesting.
